Adobe Creative Residents 2025
V&A Museum
South Kensington, London
Open: Dec 12, 2024
Close: Nov 1, 2025
Since the beginning of COVID, the old bookshop on the ground floor of the V&A museum ground floor lay unused, taking up 156M2 of prime space in the Museum. The project entailed converting the bookshop into a flexible gallery space dedicated to works of the V&A’s Artists in residence, with the featured exhibitions changing annually. The design features two bright and airy galleries, with period Victorian architectural niches, and original heritage floorboards. The lighting design consisted of a series of suspended tracks and spotlights controlled via CASAMBI. Due to the flexible control system, the various scenes, including DAY / NIGHT / CLEANING & EVENTS can be toggled seamlessly. As well as the standard elements of the design, the arched niche period features were highlighted using colour-changeable accent lighting, which can be changed between events.
For the first annual display, Artists at Work (Dec 2024 - November 2025), featured artists include: Jacqui Ramrayka (Ceramicist): Explored themes of "home" and diasporic experiences, working with schools and the Indo-Caribbean community. Luca Bosani (Multimedia Artist): Created wearable, performance-based shoe sculptures inspired by family history, working with young people.Rachel Sale (Illustrator): Focused on the future of museums and collaborative projects with families.
